Question
What is the ruling for a traveler who stayed and did not complete the duration of wiping over the socks for a resident?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If he does not complete a day and a night, then he is allowed to complete the duration of the resident; because he has become a resident, unlike if he completed a day and a night: then it is considered: if he is in a state of ritual impurity, he should remove his socks and perform ablution, and if he is not in a state of impurity, washing his feet is sufficient. It is referred to: Tanweer al-Absar, Al-Durr al-Mukhtar, and Rad al-Mukhtar 1: 185, and Al-Hadiyya al-Alaiyya p. 40, and God knows best.
