If two witnesses testify to the sunset and two others testify to its absence during Ramadan, and he breaks his fast and it turns out to be absent
If two witnesses testify to the sunset and two others testify to its absence during Ramadan, and he breaks his fast and it turns out to be absent?
Answer
He must make up the fast without expiation; because the testimonies are for proof, not for denial, so the testimony of the one who affirms is accepted, unlike if two witnesses testify to the dawn and two to its absence, he must make up the fast and expiate for the reasons mentioned. Refer to the acceptable comments and the Al-Hadiyah Al-Ala'iyah, p. 166.
