Question
What is the ruling for someone who performed ablution and forgot to wipe over their socks, and rain fell on the surface of their socks?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is sufficient for wiping if he wore the socks while in a state of purity; because the intention is not a condition for the validity of wiping over them, rather the condition is that water reaches the surface of the front of the foot, to the length and width of three fingers or more, which can be achieved by rain. See: Sharh Al-Wiqayah, p. 114, and God knows best.
