Question
How do we understand the Hadith of our Lady Aisha that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, used to pray four consecutive Rak'ahs with one Tasleem in Taraweeh?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: It is well-known that the Hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, is related to prayer in general, and is not specific to Taraweeh. The jurists have preferred that Taraweeh be prayed in two Rak'ahs at a time to ease the burden on the people due to the length of the recitation in it. Therefore, praying four Rak'ahs with one Tasleem is disliked as a matter of preference, and Allah knows best.
