The husband does not give his wife, nor does the wife give her husband, zakat on wealth; because the benefits are connected between them. The same ruling applies to the original zakat payer, even if he is higher in lineage: like the father and grandfather, and to his descendants, even if they are lower: like the son and grandson, so it is not permissible; due to the connection of benefits among them.
