Question
Is it permissible to pray in a mosque that contains graves? The imam of the mosque buried his father and grandfather in the mosque's sanctuary?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is unanimously permissible to pray in a mosque that contains a grave; because the Prophet's Mosque was expanded during the time of Umar ibn Abdul Aziz when he was the governor of Medina, in the presence of the companions, so that the grave of the Prophet became inside the mosque, and God knows best.
