Ruling on Seeing Yellow Discharge at Puberty
My daughter is 12 years old and has not yet reached puberty. Yesterday, she had a brown discharge accompanied by pain in her abdomen and back. Is this considered a menstrual period? She is asking about her daughter because they live in Kuwait and she does not know which school of thought they follow. She says she follows the opinions of the muftis and does not adhere to a specific school of thought. Is there a problem with this?
Answer
I say, and with Allah's success: You are not required to follow a specific school of thought; because the schools of thought are specific to the muftis, as they are a scientific specialization. Your daughter has now reached puberty, and this is menstrual blood, and she must adhere to its rulings. And Allah knows best.
