Ruling on Shortening Prayer While Traveling
My friend in America traveled with her son from one state to another, which is six hours away, for treatment and staying in the hospital for three months. Is it permissible during this period to shorten and combine prayers due to the frequent visits of nurses and doctors?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: As long as you intend to stay for fifteen days or more, shortening the prayers is not permitted; because you are a resident, and a resident does not take the concessions of travel. The entry of nurses and doctors is not an excuse for combining prayers, and God knows best.
