Rulings on Wiping Over a Splint

Question
What are the rulings on wiping over a splint?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: First: It falls under the ruling of wiping over the bandage: wiping over the broken or injured member, or the bandage, or the adhesive, or what is placed in wounds from medicine that prevents water from reaching, such as ointment or others. Second: It is a condition for the permissibility of wiping over the bandage that washing the broken or injured member would harm it, or that wiping over the site of the injury would harm it, or that there is a fear of causing harm by removing the bandage. Third: Wiping over the bandage must be done once, at most as much as the member is bound, and it is not required to wipe it three times: whether it is bound with a bandage or a cloth tied over a wound or fracture, and he is unable to wash the member, nor is he able to wipe it. Fourth: Wiping over the bandage and similar items is like washing what is beneath it: it is not a substitute; because it is conditioned by the inability to wipe or wash the site itself, unlike wiping over the socks. Fifth: Wiping over the bandage is invalidated if the bandage falls off due to healing, whether it falls while in prayer or outside it: if it is outside prayer, then he is either in a state of minor impurity or not: if he is in a state of minor impurity: he performs ablution and washes the site of the bandage if the injury is on the ablution members. If he is not in a state of minor impurity: he washes the site of the bandage only, because he is capable of the original, so the ruling of the substitute is invalidated, and it is obligatory to wash it only; because the ruling of washing, which is purity in the other members, is established; due to the absence of what raises it, which is the minor impurity, thus it is not required to wash them. As for if he is in prayer: he must repeat the prayer; because he is capable of the original before achieving the intended purpose of the substitute, and if he is not in a state of minor impurity, he washes the site of the bandage only.
