Question
Is it permissible for someone who fears missing the Friday prayer if they are busy with ablution or washing to perform tayammum to start the prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Whoever fears missing the Friday prayer if he engages in ablution or washing, it is not permissible for him to perform dry ablution with the intention of starting the prayer, but he should perform ablution or wash, and if he catches the Friday prayer, he should pray it; otherwise, he prays the noon prayer as four rak'ahs; because this prayer has a substitute, which is the noon prayer, unlike the one who fears missing the funeral prayer or the Eid prayer, as they do not have a substitute and cannot be performed individually. Refer to: Radd al-Muhtar 1: 161, and God knows best.
