Question
Is it better for a person to pray two rak'ahs of Shaf' and three rak'ahs of Witr, or is it better that the Shaf' is part of the Witr, so he prays them as five with one Tasleem?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The Witr prayer in the Hanafi school consists of three connected rak'ahs like the Maghrib prayer, reciting Al-Fatiha and a Surah in each rak'ah, and making the Qunoot before bowing. Therefore, one must adhere to this format, not to any other, and God knows best.
