What is the illness that requires breaking the fast for the fasting person in Ramadan?
Answer
It is the illness that one fears may lead to death, thus breaking the fast becomes obligatory; because fasting in this case would be putting oneself in danger, and that is forbidden, so breaking the fast is permissible and even required. See: Bada'i al-Sana'i 2: 97.
