I say, and with God's success: The master should pay Zakat al-Fitr for his owned servant whether he is a freed slave, a mother of a child, or a non-Muslim due to the general command; as narrated by Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded Zakat al-Fitr for the small and the large, the free and the slave among those you support.” It is not required for him to pay for his contracted servant or for the slaves of his contracted servant; because he is not obligated to support them and his authority over them is limited. The contracted servant is not required to pay Zakat al-Fitr for himself or for his slaves; because he does not truly own anything; as he is a slave as long as he has no dirham left, and the slave is owned, thus he cannot be considered an owner by necessity.
