I say, and with God's success: It was said: Its meaning is: the war of his family and wealth and their plunder, from "I have avenged so-and-so" if I killed his relative, and "the avenger" means hatred, with the waw being pronounced as a kasra, and it is not permissible to pronounce it with a fatha, and this is more significant than the loss of family and wealth in another way, because the avenger is concerned about what has been lost and seeks revenge until he obtains it. And it was said: Its meaning is: he was separated from his family and wealth, from "the avenger" - with both a kasra and a fatha - which means the individual - that is, he became an individual apart from his family and wealth. Based on this and the previous interpretation, the meaning is: the loss of all his family and wealth. And it was said: Its meaning is: to diminish and reduce, as in His saying: {And He will not deprive you of your deeds} [Muhammad: 35], as mentioned in Fath al-Bari 4: 300, and God knows best.
