The Nafl Prayer with the Tayammum of the Fard

Question
If someone performed tayammum for the obligatory prayer, is it permissible for them to pray the nafl with that tayammum?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Yes, he can pray with this tayammum as much as he wishes from obligatory and voluntary prayers, and he can perform one or more obligatory prayers with it. It is permissible to perform tayammum for both obligatory and voluntary prayers; because Allah, the Exalted, has established tayammum in place of ablution in general. Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the pure earth is the ablution of a Muslim for ten years. If he finds water, let him touch his skin with water," in Sahih Ibn Hibban 4: 139, Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 1: 144, Musnad Ahmad 5: 146, Sunan al-Daraqutni 1: 187, Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kubra 1: 187, and Ibn al-Qattan authenticated it. The hadith is explicit that tayammum is a purification: that is, it purifies like ablution. This is supported by His saying, after mentioning ablution, washing, and tayammum: {Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful} (Al-Ma'idah: 6), where He mentioned it in the context of gratitude for ablution, washing, and tayammum all together. It is explicit that tayammum is also a purification like ablution and washing; the three are united in this regard. Otherwise, He would have only mentioned purification after ablution and washing. However, it is preferable to perform tayammum for every obligatory prayer to avoid the disagreement among the jurists. Refer to: I'la al-Sunan 1: 305, Al-Hujjah 'ala Ahl al-Madina 1: 48-49, and Al-Wiqayah p. 110, and Allah knows best.
