The Ruling of a Fasting Person Who Had Something Poured into His Throat and Thought He Broke His Fast, So He Deliberately Broke It

Question
What is the ruling of a fasting person who had something poured into his throat and thought he broke his fast, so he deliberately broke it?
Answer

He must make up the fast without expiation, whether he broke it by food or by intercourse; due to the doubt of ignorance of the ruling. This expiation is not required with doubt, unlike someone who knows that he did not break his fast and deliberately broke it, for him the expiation is obligatory. Refer to Al-Hadiyah Al-Ala'iyah, p. 164.
