Question
A lady passed away, and she had instructed her family not to cry for her. Will they be punished for crying for her?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The deceased is not punished by the crying of their family for them; because no soul bears the burden of another. The family is not prevented from crying for the deceased in a customary manner without exaggeration, but what is prohibited is the unlawful wailing according to Sharia. And God knows best.
