The Ruling on the Fasting of One Who Becomes a Resident in His Country and Then Travels

Question
What is the ruling on the fasting of one who becomes a resident in his country and then travels?
Answer

He must complete the fast of the day he traveled, and if he breaks his fast, he must make up a day in its place; because traveling does not permit breaking the fast on the day when dawn breaks upon him while he is in his country, and there is no expiation upon him; due to the ambiguity of travel, and expiation is not required in cases of ambiguity.
