Wearing a slipper with a large hole

Question
What is the ruling for someone who wiped over their slipper that has a large hole?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If the tear is large enough that three fingers of the smallest toes can fit into it when inserted, but this amount does not appear while walking, it is permissible to wipe over it; because it is a condition for the permissibility of wiping over the socks that each sock is free from a tear that shows three fingers of the smallest toes. Here, the condition is met, so the consideration is based on the appearance of the fingers from the tear, not on the possibility of inserting them into it. This is different from a tear that is closed but opens when walking and shows three fingers of the smallest toes or more, as it is not permissible to wipe over it. Refer to: Sharh Al-Wiqayah, p. 117, and God knows best.
