Wearing Khuffs on Purity, Then Becoming Impure and Performing Tayammum

Question
Is it permissible to wipe over the khuffs for someone who wore them while in a state of purity, then became impure and performed tayammum for that impurity, and then broke their wudu, but found enough water for ablution?
Answer

I say, and with God's success: It is not permissible for him to wipe over them, and he must remove the socks and perform ablution; because it is a condition for the permissibility of wiping to wear the socks after purification by ablution or washing. If he wore them after performing tayammum and then found water, it is not permissible for him to wipe over them; because when washing became obligatory upon him, the state of ritual impurity was resolved by the feet, so it is necessary to remove that by washing. Refer to: 'Umdah al-Ri'ayah 1: 108, and Sharh al-Wiqayah p. 113, and God knows best.
