Question
I sold a piece of land that I bought ten years ago. Is there Zakat on it, knowing that I am not a land trader, but I sold it to increase my capital? Is it permissible to give Zakat to my husband considering he is among the debtors? The price of the land is 75,000, and I paid 3,000, meaning the amount is 72,000?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The price of the land is combined with the rest of the wealth, and all the money is subject to zakat when a year has passed on the original wealth. It is not a condition for a year to pass on the price of the land, and it is not permissible to give zakat to the husband, as he is not a recipient due to the benefits existing between you. And God knows best.
