The Ruling on Intention for Others in Sacrificing the Udhiya
A father has eight children, all of whom are married and independent from him. He wants to sacrifice and intend on their behalf. Is it sufficient for them, or is it better and more complete for each one to sacrifice individually?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The sacrifice from sheep can only be for one person, and it is obligatory upon him if he owns the equivalent of the zakat threshold, which is (100) grams of gold. It is not sufficient for a father to sacrifice for everyone with one sheep. And God knows best.
